2. BRIEF DESCRIPTION
Stakeholder Mapping is a tool that helps to think about, identify, visualize, structure and represent the various groups of people (stakeholders) that are either directly or indirectly involved in, or impacted by the process, project, product or service. Stakeholder maps are typically used in the first stages of the continuous improvement projects and innovation projects, where teams identify and understand who the stakeholders are, what connections and interactions exist between them, and how they fit in the project’s scope. They can be then used throughout the process or project as a reminder of who the new solution is being designed for and who it will impact.
3. HOW TO USE STAKEHOLDER MAPPING IN THE GEMBA WALK
In the scope of the Gemba Walks’ strategy and setup stage, stakeholder maps are a very useful tool to help identify key stakeholders that can pilot, support or help to roll-out the Gemba Walk practice across their respective department, factory division, or the entire organization. Furthermore, stakeholder maps are used to identify the early adopters, as well as any stakeholders who might have negative implications on the Gemba. Down the line, this tool is very useful to identify any additional stakeholders that might benefit from attending a Gemba Walk; such as leadership, subject matter experts, strategic partners or clients.
