2. BRIEF DESCRIPTION
The employee rewarding system (or program) is the practice of recognizing employees and teams who have developed an innovative solution, exhibit outstanding performance, or have contributed to an organizational change. The rewarding system also helps energize rewarded employees to continue excelling and motivates others to change work habits and key behaviors to win the company’s reward and recognition.
3. HOW TO USE THE REWARDING SYSTEM FOR THE GEMBA WALK
The rewarding system acknowledges key contributors, most avid Gemba Walkers, best improvement projects, the Gemba team with the largest number of successful improvements, the biggest Gemba Walk influencers, etc. While these latter awards would be generally rewarded yearly, it is highly recommended that smaller prizes are also delivered throughout the year (quarterly or monthly). These could be in a form of a simple thank you card, a symbolic coffee/tea mug that everyone recognizes as the award for a positive change, to rewards of monetary or other more sentimental value, and job promotions.
4. ROLES AND ACTIVITIES
Leader: Dedicates resources for the rewarding system, follows-up employees’ and teams’ Gemba performance and give the rewards, recommends employees and teams for yearly Gemba awards (e.g. at the Gemba Walk day).
Facilitator: Follows-up employees’ and teams’ Gemba performance and recommends them for rewards.
Team member: Applies for the reward after having implemented Gemba Walks successfully and having impacted the process, promotes the award internally, receives the award
